The sun has barely set on Rosemount Australian Fashion Week but fashion folk across the Tasman are already promoting their own week of parades.

New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) will be staged from Monday August 29 to Saturday September 3, 2011 at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland. The Events Centre is currently under construction and will be a new location for NZFW.

Organisers are hoping NZFW's proximity to the 2011 Rugby World Cup, also to be hosted in New Zealand from September, will ensure a bumper year for this year's exhibiting designers.

"NZFW is working hard to ensure that our designers are well placed to take full advantage of the huge numbers of international visitors already confirmed to visit New Zealand by working with the Rugby World Cup to produce a range of regional fashion shows which will coincide with key games and providing showrooms in hotels, ensuring fashion is at the forefront of international visitors," NSFW organisers said.

Among the confirmed sponsors for 2011 are Westpac, Moet and Auckland City.

"...We are working on bringing some exciting new partners this year," organisers added.

NZFW will be followed by the consumer-centred Fashion Weekend from September 2-3.

NZFW was first staged in 2001 and labels that participated in its 2010 instalment include World, Zambesi, Alexandra Owen, Stolen Girlfriend's Club and Huffer. Organisers are currently accepting applications from New Zealand-based designers who wish to exhibit at NZFW 2011, with an official schedule due for release to buyers in early August 2011.
