Nude Lucy has launched a new activewear collection, created from recycled materials.

The range, which spans crop tops, bike shorts and leggings, is created using recycled nylon and lycra and is designed to be comfortable and versatile.

Nude Lucy head of womenswear Nilou Zibaee told Ragtrader that the launch of the range was a natural extension of the brand.

"The whole ethos around the brand is to provide this everyday wardrobe inspired by this really kind of inherent Australian relaxed way of life, and offering her a solution for her day-to-day, so that's where the ethos of the brand comes from.

"Activewear just felt like a really natural extension to that offering," she said.

Zibaee added that the brand has seen a shift in customer purchasing behaviour, with Nude Lucy customers engaging with smaller, dedicated ranges, rather than a large overall collection.

This knowledge helped inform the launch of activewear, she said.

"We did a lounge capsule - which is now in its second season - and we had really huge success with that capsule.

"We've seen our customer buying into sort of this sort of smaller capsule that has a really specific end use, rather than the complete main range, she tends to really like that from us.

"So, just based on the success of that, and us trying to offer this sort of complete wardrobe, activewear just seemed like a really natural thing to do," she said.

The collection features neutral, earthy tones including olive green, black, smoke grey and red-brown, colours which Zibaee said are reflective of the relaxed Australian lifestyle the brand emanates.

"That feeling really revolves around this kind of easy, relaxed-pace living that's inspired by an Australian coastal way of life," she said.

"So for that reason, I wanted everything to be really down to earth, low key, easy and comfortable - that was kind of a springboard for every element of the range.

"The fabrication has a matte finish, it's in very muted, earthy colours, there's minimal detailing, the branding is really subtle, so it's all very quietly considered to fit in line with our ethos," she said.

Meanwhile, the brand is gearing up to launch swimwear later this year, while also introducing further eco-conscious pieces and processes to the range.

"Swimwear will launch in October and that's also going to be a sustainable capsule," Zibaee said.

"We've had such success with this brand that we're just expanding on all levels.

"We're also gearing towards moving into more sustainable practices and qualities across the product and across our processes," she said.

Additionally, Zibaee said that the brand is looking forward to growing further as part of the Accent Group.

"We're really excited to be part of the Accent Group and the feeling is very mutual.

"So they're letting us do our thing and we're really excited about growing with them," she said.

Nude Lucy's new active range is available now and retails for between $50 and $90.
