Denim retailer Jeanswest has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO) to add 'firepower' to its international brand.
Mark Daynes, who joined the company three months ago as merchandise director, will replace Stephen Younane as the CEO on October 3.
Daynes brings with him a strong retail and commercial acumen spanning more than 30 years across the UK, North America and Australian markets.
“Jeanswest is a great brand with a strong heritage and the team of people around me are passionate and committed, what CEO could want more?” Daynes said.
“I’m looking forward to building on the brand, offering our customers, both existing and new, fashion they’ll get excited about and be proud to wear.”
Daynes has worked for the likes of The Burton Group, Topshop and Topman, under the Arcadia umbrella, as well as George at ASDA/Walmart, Littlewoods and Target Australia.
A Jeanswest spokesman said Daynes is a 'true retail all-rounder' with extensive mass market merchandise expertise and a proven passion for denim.
“Mark’s new appointment to CEO will add strategic firepower to the already successful denim retailer,” a spokesman said.
“Daynes will play an integral role in driving the brand into 2012 and beyond as it hits some important milestones and continues to tackle the competitive local market, with the arrival of international brands.”
Younane, who resigned after a four year tenure with the company, will now launch his own business venture and will remain as a non-executive director on the board of Jeanswest.
Jeanswest has a network of more than 250 stores across Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and Fiji and is known for its men's and womenswear, in particular, its extensive denim range.
