Zara has prompted the termination of an executive at department store Myer.

Myer has revealed Andrew Flanagan is no longer employed as group general manager strategy and business development.

Flanagan was appointed to the position last week.

In announcing the appointment, Myer credited Flanagan as the former vice president and managing director of Inditex Asia Pacific.

Group Zara Australia, the affiliated company of the Inditex Group in Australia, today issued its own statement.

"[We] would like to clarify that Mr. Andrew Flanagan was not part and has never been employed by the company as reported recently. He has not held the position of managing director and vice president for Asia Pacific."

When contacted by ragtrader.com.au, a Myer spokesperson confirmed Flanagan is no longer employed by the company.

"On June 18, Myer announced Andrew Flanagan’s appointment as group general manager strategy and business development.

"Myer announces today that Andrew Flanagan’s contract has been terminated.

"There are a number of investigations taking place into this matter."
