Department store Myer is about to hire 3000 extra staff.
Myer CEO Richard Umbers revealed it is hiring and training 3000 extra recruits for peak-season trade at Christmas.
Umbers revealed the news in an address to the Trans-Tasman Business Circle last week.
He said staff will be armed with iPads to assist customers in finding stock in stores or ordering online for immediate dispatch.
The strategy is part of Myer's Giftorium program, launched last year in a bid to boost sales and engagement during Christmas.
Giftorium aims to bring the theatre back to retail, with live activations, merchandising displays and product demonstrations.
Last year saw a Same Day Elf Delivery Service, wine tasting sessions and in-store musical performances.
