Myer has poached the chief executive of Apparel Group.

Daniel Bracken will join the department store in the new role as chief merchandise and marketing officer.

He will manage merchandise areas of design, sourcing, buying and manufacturing as well as advertising, digital, marketing, events and execution of the Myer brand strategy.

Bracken will report directly to Myer CEO Bernie Brookes.

Bracken has been the CEO of Apparel Group since 2011, overseeing brands Sportscraft, Saba, Willow and JAG.

Prior to this, Bracken worked at luxury group Burberry for 15 years in a range of executive roles.

This is not the only executive to shift ranks to Myer.

A regional executive from Inditex Group, owner of Zara, will also join the team.

Former Inditex managing director and vice president (Asia Pacific) Andrew Flanagan has been appointed as group general manager strategy and business officer.

He will report directly to Myer CFO Mark Ashby.

Australia Post executive general manager Richard Umbers will also join the Myer in the newly created role of chief information and supply chain officer.

The three new additions follow the appointment of designer fashion powerbroker Belinda Seper to Myer.

Myer executive general manager merchandise Adam Stapleton will leave Myer to pursue other opportunities.
