My Catwalk has launched a discount online shopping website offering up to 80 per cent off local and international designer brands.
MyStyleSteals.com.au site, which goes live today, will offer a range of high-end labels similar to stock currently sold by My Catwalk, but will stock garments from the previous season at a one-off reduced price.
Branding and site features for My Style Steals will also mimic the My Catwalk set-up and website coordinator Jenny Lewis said stock injections will be constant, with various specials offered every day.
According to Lewis, the decision to create My Style Steals was made given the tough retail trading environment recently and to offer more price-concious consumers a viable shopping option.
“We saw an opportunity in the market, where there's been a huge shift in consumer demand toward sale product, so it was a chance to widen the My Catwalk brand and to try and also to get ourselves into another market,” she said.
“However, the product that we're dealing with is last season's stock, so it won't infringe on My Catwalk's territory – which always offers current season stock.”
She said the site, which will remain Australia-focused for the moment, is also good news for local suppliers who have hit a snag in moving last season's stock.
“My Style Steals is also a vehicle for suppliers to clear past season stock. There are no start-up fees for them and it's just facilitating a sale for them to move their stock to make way for new product and new seasons.”
Like its sister site, My Style Steals also offers additional services, such as spray tanning, and personal shopping, as well as discount coupons and an ongoing promotion which provides a “first-purchase” $20 credit voucher to fresh subscribers.
My Catwalk launched in 2002 and was one of the first online boutiques established in Australia.
