The family-run Munro Footwear Group has just acquired ROC Boots Australia this week, adding to around a dozen shoe brands under the MFG umbrella.
Founded by Ian and David Cull in 1990, ROC is built on a footwear heritage spanning six generations, dating back to 1883 when the Cull family first entered the industry. ROC has since evolved alongside Australian youth culture over the last 35 years, selling leather boots to school shoes.
MFG’s connection to ROC also spans more than three decades, with its retail businesses – including Midas, Williams and Mathers – stocking the brand.
The existing ROC team will support the transition through July, with Munro Footwear Group assuming full operational responsibility from August 3, 2026.
The Cull family said this sale of the business is intended to ensure ROC’s long-term future with the right custodian. Ian Cull said he and his family have been fortunate to share the journey of ROC with its team members, suppliers, retailers and customers.
“As we looked to the future, it was important to find a home who shares our values, understood what ROC means to so many people, and had the experience to guide the brand into its next chapter,” said Cull, who is the director of ROC Boots Australia.
“With a shared footwear heritage and passion for long-term brand building, we believe we have found that in the Munro family and are excited by the opportunities ahead for ROC, both in Australia and internationally."
ROC will join MFG’s portfolio of twelve brands, including Diana Ferrari, Colorado, Bobux, Rockport, Django & Juliette, Mollini and Ziera. One of the last acquisitions by MFG was snapping up kids shoe retailer The Trybe from Accent Group.
“ROC is one of those rare brands that has genuinely earned its place in Australian culture,” MFG director Bill Munro said. “We’re not here to change what makes it great – we’re here to give it the platform to grow.”
