An Australian retailer has placed its New Zealand operations in liquidation.
Outdoor retailer Mountain Designs has appointed BDO Auckland to manage the liqudidation.
This follows the closure of 12 New Zealand stores and 14 years in the market.
Mountain Designs will continue to trade its Australian business through 44 stores and ship to New Zealand via its online store.
The online store has advised customers of the move:
"All Mountain Designs New Zealand stores are now closed.
"Thank-you to all our New Zealand customers who have supported us throughout the years and remember that you can still buy from us 24/7 through our online store at a reduced shipping rate.
"Our strong Australian business continues to lead the way with premium Travel and Outdoor products, our 44 retail stores are expected to grow and strengthen in the Australian retail market."
It is understood tough trading conditions and a slow economy contributed to the closures.
