It turns over in excess of $20 million per annum - and now this retailer has been acquired.

Wanted Shoes has been snapped up by Australian footwear dynasty, the Munro family.

The Munro Family Group owns and distributes Gamins, Midas, Mollini, I Love Billy and Django & Juliette.

They also own retail business Cinori and Australia’s biggest online shoe store StyleTread.

The latest acquisition includes Wanted's 17 existing stores in New South Wales.

The Munro Family Group will soon grow from 200 employees to more than 400 and 70 retail stores around the country.

“We support Australian retail, and bricks and mortar retail at that,” the family said. “The industry may be tough, but we believe it has a bright future.”

The future of the Wanted business under the ownership of the Munro group includes expansion of the brand nationwide.

“Wanted is a long-term family business that has been running for over 20 years,” the Munro family said. “They are excited to hand over to someone with the drive to take the brand to the next level.”

Kerrie and Graham Munro – who lead the group’s product design and business strategy respectively – together with their sons Jay, Lee and Bill – spearhead the company.
