FBI Fashion College opened its doors in 1994 and helped launch some high-profile fashion careers.

As the industry institution celebrates 20 years in business, a look back on some highlights:

1994 Opens on the second floor of the Glebe terrace it now occupies.

1996 Gains accreditation for Fashion Business Courses.

1997 Introduces Fashion Design Courses.

1998 Officially names the pioneering training program it has been running. The FBI Careers Department is born.

2008 Opens an integrated retail store on site. Chariot is the first of its kind, offering students a platform through which to sell their merchandise to the public.

2008 Purchases and renovates the entire historic building.

2009 Adds a fully government accredited and nationally recognised Diploma of Business to the curriculum.

2010 The industry leading FBI Personnel Services is established to help assist fashion companies with finding suitable and qualified staff.

2011 The $10,000 FBI Fashion Business Initiative is launched, exclusive to FBI students and graduates.

2011 FBI expands into the Glebe Post Office building next door, equipping the premises with two adjoining historical buildings, an expansive design studio and student lounge.

2011 FBI gains approval to add an accredited Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology.

2013 Sets up a fully equipped, professional standard Styling Studio for student use.

2014 Celebrates the 1200th FBI student to gain a paid industry position through the FBI Careers Department.
