New Zealand-born retailer Michael Hill has released a new jewellery range with global brand INXS.

The five-piece unisex range is made from 100% recycled silver and features band motifs such as guitar pick pendants, rings, cuff, and a time capsule locket.

This is the second partnership between Michael Hill and INXS, with a 2022 campaign featuring INXS’ ‘Never Tear Us Apart’.

The new line marks the 47th anniversary for the band.

“When we were planning and conceptualising each piece, we wanted to ensure we honoured the band’s stylistic history,” Michael Hill head of product design Maria Then said. “We have worked closely with INXS to build our jewellery range, which features an autographed guitar pick pendant that replicates the band’s actual guitar picks, heavy chains with hardware closures, and nods to some of their beautiful lyrics.”

Michael Hill CMO Jo Feeney said the choice to partner with INXS initially was strategic.

“Michael Hill has a long history of creativity, with music also at the heart of our brand,” Feeney said. “We wanted to honour that by using a soundtrack that matched the meaning and emotion of our origin story and INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” was the perfect match.

“Since releasing the campaign, we have been working with INXS to find another opportunity to collaborate on a project that provides synergy to both our brands. We are proud of this exclusive jewellery range and we hope our customers love these unique pieces as much as we loved creating them.”

The adoption of 100% recycled silver comes as Michael Hill scales its circularity initiatives, including a recycling program, a repair program and a diamond upgrade program. The company began accepting recycled gold from customers in exchange for a gift card.

“INXS is synonymous with music, but also fashion and lifestyle,” INXS band member Jon Farriss said. “We are really digging these Michael Hill designs that reflect some of the things we still wear today.”

The range will be sold in-store and online throughout Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with an RRP starting at $169.00. Additional pieces in the jewellery range are expected to be released later in 2024.
