Emily Bird has resigned from her general counsel and joint company secretary role at global retailer Michael Hill, effective January 5.

Bird joined the Michael Hill team in September 2019 as senior legal counsel, and was the joint company secretary - together with CFO Andrew Lowe - since July 2020.

In a post to LinkedIn, Bird thanked the New Zealand-born jeweller for the opportunities and experiences she received in her role.

“After more than four incredible years at Michael Hill, it is time for me to take the next step in my career,” Bird wrote.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had at Michael Hill - I have learnt so much, been involved in some really interesting projects, made friends and had fun along the way.

“I look forward to providing details of my new role early next year.”

The Michael Hill board thanked Bird for her contribution and service to the business and wished her well for the future.

Lowe will continue as company secretary.
