New Zealand-born jewellery group Michael Hill International has appointed Andrea Slingsby as a non-executive director of the company, effective today (September 8).
Slingsby has strong prior experience with the company and its operations, having been the alternate director to Sir Michael Hill for around three months from April 14, 2025. She has also previously served as the company’s interim chief people officer from August 2018 to December 2018 and was the chief operating officer from January 2019 to January 2021.
Outside of Michael Hill, Slingsby has more than 20 years of experience in executive, board and advisory roles. This spans retail, high net-worth family offices, construction and property development, digital/technology, infrastructure and tourism.
She also brings expertise in both domestic and international growth and sustainable scaling of significant ASX-listed Australian businesses. She held executive positions at Flight Centre Travel Group Limited (ASX:FLT), including president/EGM of Flight Centre North America and was the global human resources manager.
She has also been chair of multiple Remuneration Committees with expertise in governance principles and ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical decision-making.
Slingsby is currently a director of Prime Financial Group (ASX: PFG), Volunteering Gold Coast and an investment committee member at construction company, McNab.
The board has considered her independence status, including her recent appointment as alternate director of Michael Hill, as well as previous positions she has held with the company, and confirms her status as an independent non-executive director of the company.
The latest news comes as its namesake jewellery brand, Michael Hill, extended its partnership with international model and entrepreneur Miranda Kerr.
The extension will include a collaboration between the two on an exclusive product collection, anticipated to launch in early 2026. Miranda Kerr will also continue to support several other new ranges set to be unveiled over the coming months.
Kerr welcomed the continued partnership with the heritage brand.
"I’m so honoured to continue my partnership with Michael Hill,” Kerr said. “From being one of my very first campaigns when I started modelling to now collaborating on exciting new projects, including designing my own collection with the team, it’s been such a rewarding journey with more to come.”
Kerr added that the partnership has been a meaningful experience so far. She has fronted campaigns for Michael Hill across its key markets in New Zealand, Australia and Canada since joining in mid-April.
“The most rewarding part has been feeling like a true collaborator and having the opportunity to be part of the creative process,” she said. “I’m also passionate about the work Michael Hill does through the Michael Hill Foundation, from empowering women to supporting nature restoration; two causes that are meaningful to me.
“Partnering with a brand that cares about people and the environment is incredibly important, and as an Australian, I feel a real connection to Michael Hill’s rich heritage and the way it continues to play a role in life’s most meaningful moments.”
Michael Hill manages around 120 stores across Australia, 82 across Canada and 45 stores across New Zealand. Including Bevilles, the wider Michael Hill Group managed 287 stores across its three key markets, including 160 in Australia.
