Myer has appointed Mark Cripsey into the company's newly created role of chief digital and data officer.

The move will aim to reflect Myer's focus on improving its omni-channel retail experience and the importance of customer data through its Myer one program.

Cripsey brings with him experience as Coles Online general manager as well as stints at Tesco Limited and US grocery store chain Fresh & Easy.

Myer CEO Richard Umbers said the company is thrilled to welcome Cripsey to the team to further its success.

“We’re excited to welcome an executive of Mark’s calibre to the leadership team.

“Mark’s experience in technology-driven retail transformation, and his direct experience in e-commerce and multi-channel logistics will be important in helping to successfully deliver our strategy.”

The company has also cited pure-play operators moving into physical store environments as a key focus for its development.

It has recently poached brand Tiger Mist who previously sold exclusively online, but can now be found on the shopfloor at Myer.

The company said that Tiger Mist will aim to fill a gap in the market with a robust online and social media presence.

At this stage Cripsey is expected to start in the new role before the end of this year.
