Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) 2012 will play host to four of Hong Kong’s most renowned designers next week, as they prepare to show their collections in Australia for the first time.
Backed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the exclusively selected Hong Kong designers – Chailie Ho, Dodo Leung, Harrison Wong, and Hei Lau – will debut their spring/summer 2012/2013 collections at the Style Hong Kong runway show during MBFWA.
The Style Hong Kong runway show, on May 4, will also be preceded by a Style Hong Kong pop-up shop, which will be open from 9am to 5pm starting from Tuesday May 1 until Thursday May 3.
The temporary boutique will be set up in Hong Kong House at 80 Druitt Street, Sydney, and will showcase the latest collections and designs from Ho, Leung, Wong and Lau, with opportunities also made available to meet the designers themselves.
IMG Worldwide director of global production Jarrad Clark said MBFWA welcomes the Hong Kong designers and recognises the strong link between Australia and Hong Kong, which is internationally recognised as Asia’s fashion capital.
“We are very pleased to welcome an exciting contingent of fresh and innovative Hong Kong designers to our schedule this season,” he said.
“We look forward to continuing the MBFWA tradition by providing a platform for designers and brands from the Australasian region to present their collections to an international audience whereby they are able to meet their own business growth endeavours.”
The Style Hong Kong runway show will take place at The Theatre at Sydney’s Passenger Terminal, with a pre-event to take place at The Box, also at Sydney’s Passenger Terminal.
