Dion Lee, Camilla Franks, Camilla-Freeman Topper, Rachel Gilbert and Terry Biviano will act as fashion ambassadors during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) 2012.

The five designers have been selected to provide international media guests with a personal tour of Sydney, a joint tourism initiative of the NSW Government and event organiser IMG Fashion.

Guests this year include Rumi Neely (LA), Natalie Joos (New York), Bryan Boy (Manila), Candice Lake (London) and Kirsty Hathaway (London).

Lee's selection as ambassador comes despite his decision to pull from the trade event last week.

NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said the aim is to promote Sydney as a global fashion and design hub.

"The Fashion Ambassadors will introduce [guests] to their favourite places to shop, eat, drink and play, as well as give them a sneak peek inside their studios.

"With hot spots like Icebergs at Bondi Beach, The Winery on Crown Street and Australian designer precinct The Intersection in Paddington on the itinerary, Sydney is sure to shine as the place to be for world-class fashion, entertainment and lifestyle."

This is the latest in a series of MBFWA 2012 initiatives from the NSW Government, which will also pair export-ready designers with international delegates at the event this year.
