Ragtrader.com.au delivers an exclusive first look at designer Michael Lo Sordo's latest collection, before a thread hits the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) today.
Moving forward from the jungle brights of last summer to the coldest blacks of winter, we see a return to the “essence of cut” which is fast becoming a stable feature in each collection from designer Michael Lo Sordo.
The collection theme has emerged from the idea of nuns and convents in the 60s, which have inspired the silhouette, shape, and texture of pieces throughout the range.
The evolution of the label also takes a turn this season, with the introduction different levels of blue, sky , aqua , sapphire across the colour palette.
These shades are contrasted against black, white and ash grey. Using the concept of opposites, Lo Sordo has also used the lightest silks mixed with the heaviest, the roughest mixed with the softest to create a kind of balance between colours and textures.
Sharp tailoring, layering, contrasts of fabrics, light, heavy, sheer, and non sheer sum up a collection which embraces change.
Lo Sordo was named 2012 QANTAS SOYA 365 Fashion Winner, a finalist in the LMFF National Designer Award in 2012 and 2013 and invited to show in both New York and Milan during 2012.
