Local designer Phoenix Keating has made his mark from his dramatic approach to power dressing. Ragtrader exclusively reveals what he has in store for his official debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia today.
Phoenix Keating makes his official debut on schedule at Fashion Week Australia this year via The Box with a collection summed up as an “ultra modern take on old western clothing”.
Made up of a mix of couture with more ready-to-wear pieces, the range has been inspired by the traditional costumes in Spaghetti Western films, particularly by Clint Eastwood.
Sharp lines and structured pieces dominate the collection with fabrics used to introduce the contrast of futuristic and traditional. The shine of duchess silk and silver lame is set against the raw quality of woven horsehair and reversed denim. Key colours include silver, tan, black and ivory.
The 15-piece collection is finished with metal-tooth zippers with wetsuit tabs to complete the minimalist look from the front and easy closure at the back.
Embellishment will also be introduced to the collection with the first full line of Phoenix Keating branded accessories.
