A luxury retailer has expanded its local empire for the fourth time in less than six months, as it moves to take a bigger slice of the market.
Guess has confirmed the addition of menswear to its Australian online offering for the first time, with the debut 'Vintage Americana' fall collection available from this month.
The 'Vintage Americana' range channels classic Americana 'Western' inspiration and features distressed denim, washed-out chambray shirts and denim jackets, in addition to embroidered button downs, plain printed denim and shirts, and faded jeans.
The collection is also complemented by a full range of accessories for men including shoes, wallets, sunglasses, fragrance, jewellery, and watches and will retail from $39.95 to $189.95.
The launch of Guess menswear online follows a continued push by the brand to revitalise its e-commerce offering, which has recently seen a number of new additions to the site.
This included the launch of Guess womenswear in August 2013, the Guess mobile-ready platform in October 2013, and Guesskids.com in November 2013.
The company has also recently invested in a new website design – featuring streamlined navigation and Paypal functionality as well as optimised delivery and returns processes. Guess will also introduce its premium Marciano collection online later this month.
Commenting on its end-game, Busby Ltd group marketing and e-commerce manager Shannon Luxford said the category additions are part of a long-term local strategy for the brand.
“The launch of Guess menswear this week is part of our revitalised e-commerce offering for Australian consumers. Our e-commerce strategy is a key focus for our continuing growth in the Australian market and continues to exceed our expectations with December online sales 31 per cent up on forecast.
“Our Guess menswear business continues to see strong growth versus last year. This can be contributed to a more focused product assortment and improved designs from the Los Angeles-based Guess menswear team. With the growth of men shopping online for fashion now, we believe we are well positioned to capture this spend with the introduction of Guess menswear online in Australia.”
