French fashion house Louis Vuitton will include Australia in its rollout of a new digital collectible as part of a Web3 initiative.

Other countries involved include the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.

The digital collectible is a VIA Treasure Trunk (lidded box) which will house future limited and exclusive drops that will be “progressively launched” at regular intervals throughout the year.

Valued at €39 000 (AU$62,484), Louis Vuitton will launch the new trunk on June 8 in a very limited and exclusive edition of a few hundred pieces. The first unseen collectible will be available for purchase via the trunk in a few weeks’ time, which owners can access through unique “keys”.

Each collectible is revealed through the Treasure Trunk in a digital form that is twinned with exclusive access to a physical counterpart.

The upcoming drops from the Maison will hold a record of ownership and proof of authenticity.

The sale process of the VIA Treasure Trunk will begin on June 8, when interested buyers will need to register on a waiting list. Louis Vuitton will then invite selected buyers who registered to a private preview page to experience the world of VIA on June 14

Two days later, a second invitation will guide buyers through the purchase of their trunk.

The trunk is non-transferable and will include a physical twin as part of the purchase.
