Urban Outfitters and Lorna Jane? This could be the most unlikely sale of the century.
Urban Outfitters is taking part in the Credit Suisse-run auction of the activewear chain, according to US trade media reports.
As reported on ragtrader.com.au, Lorna Jane has been placed on the market for around $500 million.
US reports allege the auction is said to be in its "late second round" and that the tag is indeed close to half a billion dollars.
The brand was founded by Lorna Jane Clarkson and her husband Bill in 1990.
Lorna Jane entered the US market in 2012, with the brand operating 23 stores in California and 160 globally.
It is understood Urban Outfitters has been on the hunt for acquisitions in new categories.
The company's portfolio includes Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, BHLDN and Terrain.
