A British clothing icon will unleash a new retail site in Australia - but this isn't just any old store.

Ted Baker will open a 2,131 sq ft store in Melbourne's Londsdale Street on July 31.

The store will be a nod to the city, incorporating its iconic trams and colourful street art into its design.

A central drop down ceiling will feature antique wood panelling and brass handles, continuing throughout the store to highlight Baker's accessories offer.

Tramcar lights and wooden benches line the walls, with brass cutting mimicking tram track lines.

The store's cash desk is a central design feature, using lenticular graphics to create a sense of movement.

Inspired by the city's logo and graffiti, it features geometric shapes in deep rich reds, pinks and brown with pops of turquoise blue.

The fitting rooms are decorated with tram postcards, as well as circular lights and wooden benches.

The store will open with Ted Baker's SS14 collection.
