Australian Fashion Week founder Simon Lock has signed on for a new venture, as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) 2013 gears into action.

Lock, who spearheaded the first Australian Fashion Week in 1996, has since launched online blog Kirstenmeetsimon.com in 2012, with fiancé and fashion and beauty director Kirsten Doak.

The pair have now confirmed a partnership with online fashion and music destination Pagesdigital, and will join its network effective immediately, along with the likes of You Only Live Once and Ministry of Sound.

Kirstenmeetsimon.com currently has three-readership bases including Australia, UAE and Hong Kong, with a global audience of over 30,000 unique readers each month.

As part of the Pagesdigital network, Kirstenmeetsimon.com will now be part of an online community that reaches over 250,000 like minded readers each month.

Commenting on the tie-up, Pagesdigital founder Marnie Dibden Cate said both Lock and Doak will be an asset to the network as they continue to report on fashion, beauty and travel from their three home bases in Sydney, Dubai and Hong Kong.

“We are so pleased to welcome Kirstenmeetsimon.com to the Pagesdigital network. We really wanted to provide a new and dynamic offering to our online community and advertisers. Simon and Kirsten’s experience, authority and take on all things fashion, beauty and travel is the perfect vehicle for us to be able to achieve that,” she said.

The partnership with Pagesdigital will be launched with kirstenmeetsimon’s coverage of the Spring Summer edition of MBFWA in Sydney from April 8 to April 12.

As the founder of the event this will also mark the first time that Simon’s thoughts and perspectives on Australian fashion will be directly communicated to readers of Kirstenmeetsimon.com both nationally and globally.

Lock also confirmed that he has been invited to be the guest editor of The Verdict for The Australian newspaper that will be published the week after MBFWA.

In addition, Kirstenmeetsimon.com will also be collaborating with iconic Australian model turned fashion photographer Julie Healy to bring readers a series of imagery, posting daily from MBFWA.

“This will be a completely new role for me at MBFWA and I’m really looking forward to giving our readers an understanding of this amazing event, its complexities, its up and downs, characters and players as well as the hits and misses,” Lock said.

“For the first time I’m actually going to be able to say exactly what I want, unedited!"

Lock also said that the tie-up is the first in a series of new online initiatives to be announced.

Launched in 2003, Pagesdigital is a multifaceted content development company and cultural curator, with a specialist focus on the music, fashion, travel and lifestyle industries.

The Pagesdigital network of properties is now comprised of Pagesdigital, You Only Live Once, Ministry Of Sound, Kirstenmeetsimon.com and Brown Cardigan.
