Shopping precinct Melbourne Central has launched a new platform specifically created for local and independent designers to showcase their work.
The 'Emerging Melbourne' area, located on level one link bridge at Melbourne Central, is described as “a home for fashion, art and culture”, and offers emerging designers the opportunity to operate from a boutique retail space for up to three months at a time.
The space, which currently has seven Australian brands exhibiting, will see a range of fledgling labels rotate through the area every three months.
Emerging Melbourne director Patrick Price said the fresh space will open new avenues for aspiring designers.
“Emerging Melbourne was created to showcase emerging design talent in a unique and busy retail space. We are so excited to open at Melbourne Central as it is a fantastic location for young designers to showcase and sell their collections,” he said.
Current designers include Lisa Taranto, Coelho, 'indie tee' designer Sirus Grafik, Jam Jeans, Mina & Katusha, and jewellery and accessory brands Angi Mac and Ang.
