Shopping aggregate site Lasoo has boosted its arsenal again with new tools to help retailers cash in on the digital space.

The e-commerce destination has more than 1.6 million monthly visitors to date and has now released a refreshed app for iPhones and iPads which provides consumers with the next level of product comparison.

The app, initially launched in 2009, now includes a barcode scanner that provides price, location and availability details for any product with a barcode.

According to Lasoo, it is also currently the only app on the market which shows the price of the same product across multiple retailers.

In addition, Lasoo has boosted the app to also include crowd-sourcing functionality. The new feature collates crowd sourced data from users who can share their purchases with other shoppers to create an extensive database which already comprises 500,000 products.

Complete features of the new and improved Lasoo app include:

  • A barcode scanner to find price, location and availability of products;

  • Camera to attach images of scanned item;

  • Function to follow products or people who share common shopping interest;

  • Sharing capabilities across Facebook and Twitter;

  • The ability to add product information if it don’t exist in the database;

  • Popular page of 'highly scanned' products.

Commenting on the app upgrade, the company said mobile devices to research, browse and purchase products are becoming an integral part of a shopper’s path to purchase with the Lasoo App scanner functionality now adding another layer to mobile usage.
