Australian eCommerce giant Kogan has reportedly apologised and removed six Lord Ganesh towels after Hindu protests.

All versions of the beach-towel, sold at its subsidiary Matt Blatt, carried an image of Hindu deity Lord Ganesh.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who spearheaded the protest, said he received an email rectifying the matter.

Zed said it was 'deeply' trivialising for the deity to be displayed on a beach-towel.

Hinduism is one of the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.2 billion adherents.
