Kathmandu will squeeze an extra four store openings into the 2010/11 financial year when it opens new sites across Australia and New Zealand today (June 15).
The outdoor clothing retailer will open stores at Westfield Southland (VIC), Wagga Wagga (NSW), Cairns (QLD) and Whakatane (NZ). The additions will bring Kathmandu's store count to 104.
Kathmandu chief executive Peter Halkett said the new stores would add to the nine doors already opened across Australia and New Zealand this financial year.
“The new stores will be opened in time for Kathmandu's winter sale, which starts on Thursday and we are pleased to be able to cater to customers in those areas who could only purchase our products online until now,” Halkett said.
The store openings come in the wake of major disruptions to Kathmandu's operations in Christchurch (NZ) following new earthquake aftershocks in the city earlier this week. Kathmandu has currently closed all four of its Christchurch stores.
Kathmandu is a publicly listed company with stores across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The company was founded in 1987 and offers outdoorwear for men, women and children.
