New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester has launched an online marketplace to extend the life of Kate Sylvester garments.

Kate Sylvester 'Reloved' allows customers to buy and sell pre-loved Kate Sylvester items and follows the launch of the Repairs Initiative which offers customers a complimentary repair service on any garment from any time or season.

Building on the business' desire to keep the garments out of landfill and out from the back of peoples wardrobes, the site will give life to Kate Sylvester pieces extending them beyond the first owner.

Sylvester hopes that the site will become a hub for vintage and past-season pieces that customers missed out on the first time around. She also hopes customers will include personal stories about the garments to add colour to the listing.

The site will operate in a similar way to eBay and Etsy whereby sellers will be wholly responsible for uploading the products and payment is facilitated through the site for security and ease of transaction. Sellers will be charged a 10% commission on all sales to cover the costs of running the site.

For every $200 past season Kate Sylvester piece sold, the seller will receive a $20 voucher to spend online on the Kate Sylvester website.
