Kate Sylvester has paid homage to artist Frances Hodgkins for its Autumn Winter 2019 collection.
It was given the opportunity to develop some of Hodgkins' textile prints by Te Papa Tongarewa.
The collection features four prints that were inspired by Hodgkins' career and her artistic evolution but reinterpreted into a contemporary context for the modern audience.
The geometric modernist rose in eggshell blue is paired with white suiting and layered over a mint green leatherette.
A houndstooth blazer is paired with matching cropped flares, while lilac lurex knitwear sit next to an emerald velvet jumpsuit.
Neutrals of peat, ink and blush herringbone are balanced with rose bud silk embroidery in candy pink.
A jewel-toned graphic cubist print is layered under a leopard plastic mac that is cinched at the waist with a d-ring belt.
It also features rose gold, emerald and ruby panelled sequin shapes and a tiled deco print maxi dress paired with snakeskin boots.
Hodgkins' prints are also seen on graphic silk scarves.
Price points begin at $89 for scarves and go up to $899 for a wool coat.
Designer Kate Sylvester said it was important for her to bring Hodgkins' work to life in a contemporary environment.
“It was very important to me to bring the prints to life, not treat them as historical artefacts but to interpret them for a contemporary Frances and a contemporary world.”
The collection will begin to drop in stores and online from January 15.
