In an Australian airport first, Sydney Airport has announced Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors and TUMI as new acquisitions.

The three brands will join the new T1 International terminal luxury precinct, due for completion in the first half of 2016.

The luxury precinct line-up will include 13 global designer brands positioning Sydney Airport’s T1 terminal as one of the world’s premier fashion destinations.

Valiram Group Australia GM Brioney Prier said this is a big win for the airport.

"We are thrilled to announce the launch of Kate Spade New York, TUMI and Michael Kors in Sydney Airport’s T1 as the demand for our brands continues to grow in Australia."

Kate Spade New York will offer an extensive array of women’s accessories and handbags.

Michael Kors will carry a mix of accessories from the Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors labels, as well as watches, jewellery and eyewear.

TUMI will round out the offering with travel accessories.

The newly designed stores will display double-height facades and a refreshed and contemporary layout.

The revitalised luxury precinct will be complemented by works to raise the height of the roof in the adjacent forum area.

When complete, these works will improve the passenger experience at T1 by creating a sense of light and openness and providing clearer lines of sight through the terminal.

The announcement follows an extensive process undertaken by Sydney Airport to produce a compelling mix of designer brands available at T1.

Sydney Airport’s improved T1 will also feature a new premium food and dining precinct and a superior duty free offering with partner Heinemann.
