US-based activewear retailer Fabletics has rejigged its membership program.
Last year, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued a warning to consumers about the membership structure.
Following an initial purchase of discounted activewear, Fabletics’ customers were charged a monthly US $49.95 subscription charge for VIP membership.
The ACCC received complaints that some Fabletics customers were unaware they had signed up to monthly subscription payments, and some had difficulty cancelling their memberships.
Fabletics, cofounded by celebrity Kate Hudson, has now restructured its Flexible VIP Membership program.
This includes the introduction of online cancel, online returns for all orders, 24/7 customer service and online video notifications.
Fabletics’ VIP members can still shop each month from hundreds of new styles or skip the month free of charge.
The package includes free shipping, returns and exchanges, while still featuring the benefits of membership.
VIP members are also given access to limited-edition collections and promotions and earn rewards points toward free products.
The benefits have also expanded to include free access to online workout classes from expert trainers.
Fabletics was launched in 2013 as an activewear platform for women.
