International heavyweights descend on Sydney

International heavyweights from Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols are about to descend on Sydney.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) organisers have announced the international buyer lineup for the event next week.

Key representatives include Bergdorf Goodman (US), Brandalley (FRA), Club21 (SGP), Harvey Nichols (UK), House of Fraser (UK), Isetan (SGP), Lane Crawford (CHN), Les Galeries Lafayette (CHN), Matchesfashion.com (UK), Moda Operandi (US), Net-a-Porter (UK), Selfridges (UK), Shopbop (US), and Tangs (SGP).

Matchesfashion.com buying director Natalie Kingham said she is looking forward to the event.

“This is an exciting year for Australian designers with the opportunity to showcase their collections to a global audience and be a part of history in the making, while taking advantage of the buyers and media from around the world who have flown in to MBFWA.

“I’m looking forward to a great Fashion Week, and I know the rest of the industry is watching too.”

A variety of media from around the world will also be in attendance, including Vogue (US), Elle (US), New York Magazine’s The Cut, Dazed and Confused (UK), Grazia China, Fashionista (US) and Refinery29 (US).

Lee Oliviera will be photographing fashion both on and off the runway for The New York Times, while Aussie expat, stylist Catherine Baba will return home to attend the event for the first time.

Paola Alberdi, contributor to Vogue Mexico and creative director of Blank Itinerary, is heading to Sydney along with street style photographers Adam Katz Sinding (Le21ème & W Mag), Diego Zuko (Harper’s BAZAAR US), Mark Hunter (Cobrasnake), Sandra Semburg (A love is Bling & Vogue Paris) and Youngjun Koo (NY Mag’s The Cut & W Korea).
The event will run from May 15 to 20, with a consumer edition slated for the weekend.
