Small and medium retailers who have been hit hard by COVID-19 lockdowns are invited to attend a free webinar regarding COVID-related insurance claims.

Gordan Legal is hosting two webinars to allow businesses to have their questions answered about the avenues for pursuing COVID-related claims against insurers.

The webinars follow class actions launched by business interruption insurance clients of QBE and Lloyds of London, through the legal firm.

The firm believes that businesses who hold their insurance with other insurers may also be entitled to payouts from insurers, even those who have been discouraged from claiming or have had their claims rejected.

Gordon Legal partner Andrew Grech said that businesses should lodge a claim with their insurers.

"We believe that QBE and Lloyds are just two of many insurers who have wrongly denied claims to thousands of businesses and failed to support these businesses when they needed it most.

"Accessing the payouts that we believe they are entitled to will mean the difference between survival and failure of many businesses.

"We are holding this information session to provide free legal advice and help policyholders with the next steps.

"We encourage all policyholders to lodge a claim with their insurer and seek legal advice, even if their brokers and insurers discourage them from doing so.

"We will be explaining why this is a necessary first step and taking businesses through the possible scenarios," he said.

Interested businesses have a choice of two dates to attend the webinar:

  • 4pm to 5pm AEST on Wednesday August 18
  • 7.30pm to 8.30pm AEST Tuesday August 24

Further details are available on the firm's website.
