The Australian Fashion Chamber (AFC) has announced the designers selected to head to its 'Australian Designers Abroad' showroom in Paris this October.
Bassike, Camilla and Marc, Christopher Esber, Ginger & Smart, Michael Lo Sordo, Romance Was Born and Strateas.Carlucci are part of the line-up that will represent Australian fashion as part of the city's SS16 ready-to-wear fashion week.
Industry skill, strength of current seasonal collections and potential success in the market were reportedly key factors in the selection process.
The AFC has committed to working collaboratively with the designers through a mentorship program leading up to the event in a bid to prepare for demands within the global marketplace.
The designers will also be offered sales, marketing and media support as part of the event.
AFC chair Edwina McCann said it could be an invaluable opportunity for local designers.
“This is an incredible export opportunity for these designers and has the potential to help expand their businesses globally.
“The Australian Fashion Chamber is proud to make this possible and showcase Australia’s best creative talent.”
The event is set to run from 5-8 October.
