Queensland men’s fashion label Urbbana is preparing to debut its largest boutique to date, with the fitout already underway.

Designer and founder Sam Abi recently secured the lease for a ground-floor retail space on Edward Street, Brisbane.

The Edward Street store will be the third Queensland boutique for Urbbana, which is also stocked in select boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Abi said the brand continues to defy the struggling retail economy.

“I have had a very positive and growing response from Queensland and Australia’s stylish men,” he said.

“Urbbana is a modern brand – we have an online store and utilise social media to engage existing and new clients.

"However the desire is still there for men to enjoy a bit of luxury while they shop. They can come in, receive attentive service, appreciate the real look and feel of materials and have something fitted.

“I have found that men tend to shop less often, but buy more at once – they don’t shop regularly for occasions but rather come in for a suit, several full outfits and the accessories and shoes to top everything off.

"I think because of this, it’s wonderful for men to come into a physical store, receive expert styling and fitting advice and really make an occasion of it when they do go shopping.

“There haven’t always been many pampering experiences tailored for men but the demand is there and men are embracing the opportunity. It’s about taking your time and enjoying the experience.

“You can even have a trim or shave while you’re there!," he said.

The fit-out of the 230sqm flagship, costing in excess of $700K, will include high-shine black flooring, illuminated display boxes, crystal chandeliers, copper ceiling details, plush modern lounges, oversized fitting rooms and artworks including Brisbane city scapes.

Customers will be offered a full range of fashion, featuring solely local designs with clothing and accessories made exclusively for Urbbana.

This includes tailored suits and shirts to ties, pocket squares, cufflinks, bags and wallets and a full collection of shoes.

The new Urbbana flagship store will open in early December.
