Feathers founder Margaret Porritt is taking on a collaboration/mentoring role with Melbourne based brand S.Wallis.

With both Feathers and S.Wallis flagship stores based in Hawksburn village, Porrit and S.Wallis founder Shakeera Wallis have engaged in regular meetings.

Porritt has over 42 years experience in the fashion industry and survived several recessions, along with the rise of online shopping.

"Out of adversity comes great things," she said. "The brand never stands still. It is constantly evolving and reinventing itself."

As part of the program, the two brands will collaborate for autumn/winter 2016.

Feathers will stock a capsule line of S. Wallis designs in select boutiques next month.

Having spent over a decade working in product development, director Shakeera Wallis has an intimate understanding of the Australian fashion industry.

London-trained senior designer Emily Riley is also an integral member of the team.

The brand's recent spring/summer collection was inspired by the borgeois bohemia of the 1970s, with classic separates in neutral tones and injections of navy and black.
