The world's most valuable apparel brands have been revealed in a report by Brand Finance - and they're all operating in Australia.

Nike remained at the top of the list for 2018 despite a 12% drop in brand value down to $US28 billion.

Adidas also played a key role in the struggles faced by Nike with the company seeing a 41% increase in brand value to $US14.3 billion in 2018 as they held their position at fourth.

In second place, H&M remained relatively stagnant falling 1% to $US19 billion over the last year.

Zara closed the gap between itself and H&M with a 21% increase up to $US17.5 billion taking third on the list.

The top four luxury brands, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Gucci each recorded strong brand value growths for the year.

Hermes took the highest spot for the luxury brands with a 36% increase up to $US11.3 billion moving into the fifth spot.

Cartier saw the biggest increase in brand value among the luxury brands with an increase of 45% to $US9.8 billion climbing up to seventh on the list after placing tenth last year.

The brand's growth came as a benefit of sales growth in the UK, mainland China and Hong Kong.

The biggest drop on the list came from Under Armour, who fell 36% down to $US13.8 billion off significantly reduced expectations falling from 12th to 19th place.
