Herringbone and Rhodes & Beckett administrators have given themselves a deadline of today to assess which stores will close permanently.

The brands, owned and supplied by German-based van Laack, called in voluntary administrators Cor Cardis on Monday.

This is not the first time Herringbone has faced the chopping block.

In 2009, Van Laack acquired Herringbone from administrators.

There are 29 Rhodes and Beckett and Herringbone stores and 140 staff across Australia.

High overheads, underperforming stores, unaffordable leases and the retail climate have been blamed for the collapse.
Administrators are pursuing a sale of business.

Herringbone and Rhodes & Beckett join Marcs, David Lawrence, Pumpkin Patch and Payless Shoes in the latest spate of trade collapses.
