As the retail industry approaches its major shopping season, Ragtrader reports on the data from the 2018 sales. 

Click Frenzy 

Online sales increased by 144% during the 2018 November Click Frenzy, new data from Criteo reveals. 

Analysing over 32 million online shopping transactions across desktops, smartphones, tablets and apps from 128 major Australian retailers during Click Frenzy, Criteo found that sales in the fashion category increased 194% during the event. 

Online traffic increased 59% and conversion rates surged by 53% during the event and 62% the day after.  

On the first night of Click Frenzy, both mobile and desktop sales increased significantly with an increase of 329% in mobile sales and 283% in desktop sales. 

Black Friday 

Analysing over 19 million retail shopping transactions from desktops, smartphones, tablets and apps from 177 major Australian retailers the Criteo data for Black Friday also indicates a significant surge, with online sales jumping up by 210% during the event. 

Online traffic increased by 90% on Black Friday, while the Sunday of the Black Friday weekend saw a spike in sales (129%) and traffic (54%) too.

The data indicates that Black Friday experienced a rise in conversion rates of 63%. 

Across the Black Friday weekend, mobile sales reached a peak of 50%.  

Christmas and Boxing Day shopping 

The data indicates that online sales also surged during the Christmas shopping season, with sales reaching a high of 74%. 

During December, conversion rates reached a high of 50%.

Mobile sales reached a peak of 58% on 24 December when consumers were away from their desktops. 

On Boxing Day, the Criteo statistics indicate that sales increased 141% and traffic increased 85%.
