Thurley designer Helen O'Connor has revealed that she has ventured into bridal, after Thurley went on 'pause' in 2020.

In a statement posted to socials in November 2020, the brand thanked its customers, telling them, "it's goodbye for now, but not forever," closing its bricks-and-mortar and digital store.

Now, Helen O'Connor has taken her skills to the bridal arena, launching Helen O'Connor Bridal.

Titled ‘Phoenix’, the brand's first made-to-measure bridal collection symbolises rebirth and renewal as a reflection of O’Connor’s journey.

"My inspiration begins with women," O'Connor said of the new brand.

"I treat each dress like a piece of art and sculpt it around the female form.

"My dream is to create gowns that will take your groom and guests' breath away when you walk into the room," she said.

Helen O'Connor Bridal's first collection has been designed, sampled and made locally in Melbourne, in collaboration with suppliers and international artisans.

The brand's focus on local manufacturing is informed by O'Connor's extensive experience at Thurley, where she became increasingly conscious and concerned of the environmental footprint that was being created by the rapid pace and volume of seasonal stock turnaround in ready-to-wear.

Conversely, bridal offers a sustainable solution, creating pieces that meet consumer demand to eliminate excess stock and the associated environmental footprint.

Alongside the new collection, Helen O'Connor Bridal has opened a boutique, located in Fitzroy Melbourne.

The Phoenix collection is available now and is also available to purchase in select national and international boutiques.
