H&M has continued to develop its Australian expansion plans after a quiet first quarter with the group revealing it will open two new stores in Victoria before the end of 2018.

The two new stores will launch at The Glen shopping centre, which is currently undergoing a $460 million redevelopment, and at Northland shopping centre in Melbourne later this year.

The announcement comes after the brand had also announced it would open two other new stores before the end of 2018 including the business' first store in South Australia and a new store on the Gold Coast.

H&M country manager for Australia and New Zealand Hans Andersson said the move was part of a continuation of the brand's wider expansion plans for Melbourne.

“We look forward to continuing our expansion in Melbourne and reaching new customers with the opening of two new stores, The Glen shopping centre and Northland shopping centre later in 2018.”

The brand had previously announced that 2018 would be a transitional year for the group and that it would be looking to accelerate its transformation to take advantage of opportunities generated by rapid digitalisation.

The H&M brand currently operates a portfolio of 29 stores across Australia and three stores in New Zealand.
