International giants Zara, Uniqlo and H&M have joined major domestic retailers in shutting their doors.

H&M, which closed its stores on April 2, will face a double blow as its local eCommerce site has yet to be launched.

In a statement to consumers, it confirmed its returns window would be extended to 100 days as it addressed the climate.

“Right now, we’re facing a situation no one could prepare for.

"We are continuously following the advice of local authorities.

"As always the health and safety of our customers and colleagues reamins our top priority."

In January, country manager Thomas Coellner confirmed the eCommerce site would launch in the latter half of 2020.

“We are extremely excited to launch online shopping in Australia this year.

“This significant milestone will fully round out H&M Australia’s multi-channel offering.

“We look forward to providing 24/7 access to our fashion and creating new experiences for our customer,” he said.

H&M’s first entered the Australian market in 2014, with 40 current stores nationwide.

Zara will continue to process eCommerce sales and has extended its returns window to 30 days after stores resume operation.

Uniqlo has also shut stores to focus on digital revenue and told customers it will extend its returns policy.

"This is a challenging decision for any business to make and not one that we make lightly, but we believe it is the right thing to do for our community.

"We will continue to work closely with our teams, the government and public health officials throughout the country on the best way to navigate the days and weeks ahead, and will share information with you as we move forward together."
