What does a Melbourne university have to do with the launch of H&M?
H&M has joined forces with RMIT students to design an exclusive t-shirt that will be included as part of its first local store launch.
The retailer has confirmed April 5 as the opening date for its Melbourne GPO store.
Customers will receive the t-shirt with any purchase on opening day.
H&M will also host a pre-launch countdown for customers in line, where exclusive gift bags will be handed out.
A DJ has been arranged to keep the crowd entertained in the lead-up to the launch, with refreshments and a pamper cart to also be handed out to customers as they eagerly await the opening of the store.
As a precursor to the official opening, H&M will hold an exclusive VIP event on April 3, where guests will be treated to a special DJ set by American rock band, Haim.
As previously reported on ragtrader.com.au, the first H&M Australian store is set to house apparel, underwear and accessories for men, women, kids and baby, as well as H&M’s home concept, under the one roof.
In addition, a specially designed ‘Australia Exclusive Collection’ will be launched exclusively at the opening.
Designed to complement the Australian lifestyle, this limited edition capsule collection will feature exclusive apparel and accessories for men and women and will only be available at the new flagship store.
Commenting on the exclusive Australian collection, H&M Australia country manager Hans Andersson said it was a great way to celebrate the brand's entry into the Australian market.
“Australia is a modern country and many Australians are well travelled, fashion minded and familiar with the H&M brand. We wanted to make our launch into Australia special by creating this exclusive capsule collection which is unique to the Australian market.”
The collections will be showcased throughout the approximately 5,000 square meters of Melbourne’s iconic GPO building, which also features a three-storey atrium. The outlet will be one of H&M’s largest stores globally.
As previously reported on ragtrader.com.au, H&M also launched a dedicated website for the Australian market earlier this week.
