H&M Australia has launched a digital giving initiative with UNICEF Australia to help protect children from preventable disease.

From today, H&M customers can add a donation following any purchase on the H&M website and help support UNICEF’s work providing vaccinations to children whose access to vaccines has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The campaign is the second local fundraising effort H&M has rolled out to support UNICEF, following the month-long fundraising appeal in stores to assist with immunisation programs in Papua New Guinea in December 2020.

"In 2020, 23 million children missed out on basic vaccines through routine immunisation services, leaving them at risk to devastating but preventable diseases like measles, polio or meningitis," UNICEF Australia CEO Tony Stuart said.

"We are so grateful to H&M Australia and their customers for helping us to raise vital funds to keep children safe and healthy," he said.

According to UNICEF, the pandemic has disrupted 60 vaccination programs administered to vulnerable children throughout the world.

"We are pleased to continue our local partnership with UNICEF Australia and support their important work in helping protect children from preventable diseases, particularly during this difficult time," H&M Australia country manager Thomas Coellner added.
