The decision to axe underperforming fashion title Grazia this year has been made clearer, with the latest circulation figures revealing major declines for Australian weekly magazines.
The March quarter saw overall numbers falling by 8.5 per cent, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
Magazine Publishers Australian executive director Robin Parks said this was not unexpected given the tough retail market.
"Every discretionary spend category would be feeling this and magazines are no exception."
The most resiliant was Pacific Magazine's New Idea, which declined 2.9 per cent, followed by Woman's Day, which fell 4.6 per cent.
OK! fell by 13.6 per cent, Who -8 per cent, NW -6.5 per cent, Famous -6.6 per cent and Wish -5.55 per cent.
In New South Wales, The (sydney) Magazine fell 14.59 per cent while Sunday Life plunged 24.36 per cent.
In Victoria, Sunday Life fell 13.37 per cent while Sunday Magazine fell 10.03 per cent.
