Australian fashion retailer General Pants has announced it will double the donations of its customers this Christmas, opting for a new strategy.

The 'Just Be Nice' campaign will see the retailer ask customers to donate $1 to Lighthouse Foundation and it will pledge an additional $2 on top.

The Lighthouse Foundation provides a home, sense of family and around-the-clock therapeutic care for homeless young Australians from backgrounds of long term neglect and abuse.

In addition to the initiative, General Pants is giving away thousands of dollars of prizes from now until Christmas, to those who share nice things someone else has done.

General Pants CEO Craig King said he hopes the generous corporate donation will motivate customers to give to charity.

“I think we all feel 2017 was a tough year but imagine how much worse it would be if you had nowhere safe to live.

"That’s why this holiday season General Pants is supporting the brilliant Lighthouse Foundation who work tirelessly on providing a ‘home’ for displaced youths across Australia.

"For every dollar donated by our customers this December General Pants Co. will donate $2 so that we can help make 2018 a better year for more of us.”
