Australian fashion retailer General Pants Co. has teamed up with suicide prevention organisation R U OK? to raise awareness about mental health.

As today marks national R U OK? Day, customers will be able to purchase official wristbands from General Pants Co. stores across the country and online for $2.

General Pants Co. CEO Craig King has confirmed the company will continue to support the organisation through a range of ongoing activities.

“We want to constantly remind our customers of the affect they can have on one another’s wellbeing and have the courage to start a conversation if they think someone’s not OK.

Mental health is something that impacts a lot of young people and if we can draw attention to this problem early, we can help save lives.

"We know that a sense of connection and belonging contribute to our resilience and mental wellbeing, so we hope to strike a chord with our 1500+ employees and customers and encourage them to be there for one another when times get tough.”

R U OK? Day takes place each year on the second Thursday of September.

In a 12-month period, it is estimated that a whopping 65,000 Australians make a suicide attempt.
