The University of Technology in Sydney presented its 2025 Fashion Honours Showcase, an annual runway that showcases the next generation of Australian designers.
Around 100 media, creatives, industry leaders, faculty and past alumni viewed the runway launch this week.
This year’s showcase brought together 17 graduates who each presented a collection of up to six looks. According to UTS, the looks were the culmination of a year of development and a reflection of the skills and creativity, which were learned through its Bachelor of Fashion and Textiles Design Honours program.
The runway was presented under the newly formed Faculty of Design and Society.
For the first time, UTS partnered with creative and industry figures to shape this year’s showcase. Designer Alix Higgins was appointed creative director of the runway, Sean Brady led makeup direction, and Priscilla’s was the exclusive modelling agency partner.
“When talking to Alix, he described the space as office-like,” Brady said. “I wanted to create looks that were corporate surreal with a nod to Prada shows of the past. Restrained, beautiful and a little bit wrong.”
Global hairdressing salon Toni & Guy also joined the event, creating four hair looks using Label.M products. The direction centred on hair that felt lived in and quietly expressive, with soft braids, relaxed low ponytails, centre partings and fringes.
The soundtrack ‘Incense pts. 1–5’ was written, performed and recorded by Joan Banoit and comprised a pentad of musical movements drawn from recalled memory. This original work was commissioned for the showcase.
