An initiative involving former Vogue Australia editor Kirstie Clements, sass & bide co-founder Heidi Middleton and Nicky and Simone Zimmerman, among others, is on its way.

This week will see Clements, Middleton and the Zimmerman sisters star with a raft of other fashion industry icons as part of a new documentary film for Brisbane's QueensPlaza shopping precinct.

The documentary film, titled ‘Uncovering the Brisbane Look', aims to celebrate “all that is brave and brilliant about Brisbane life and style” and took months of production to come to fruition.

Clements, best known for her 13-year tenure as editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, took the reigns as executive producer of the film.

The documentary also stars stylist and former Vogue Australia fashion editor Meg Gray, Gail Reid of Gail Sorronda and Lydia Pearson of Easton Pearson.

Directed by Hailey Bartholomew, the documentary was put together by gathering insights and contributions from some of the biggest names in Australian fashion, art and popular culture.

Commenting on the film, Bartholomew said it was “rewarding”.

“It was heart-warming just how supportive and encouraging everyone in the Brisbane fashion industry was of one another,” she said.

Clements added that the process was an eye-opener on Brisbane's style codes.

“As it unfolded it was wonderful to find that style in Brisbane was about much more than just fashion and what they wore,” she said.

The initiative also sees Amelia Gundelach from the Gallery of Modern Art, art curator Alison Kubler and fine artist Michael Zavros contributing their views about Brisbane’s art and fashion scene.

Footage includes shots from the Valentino, Hats and Easton Pearson Retrospective at GoMA, QueensPlaza’s 2013 fashion shoot, and Alison Kubler’s Art/Fashion in the 21st Century book launch. Ina ddition to this, footage from the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival is also included, among other fashion events which have unfolded in Brisbane.

‘Uncovering the Brisbane Look’ will premiere at a private cocktail reception at GoMA on Thursday 27 February.

The public launch of the documentary will take place on Monday 3 March at the cinema lounge, QueensPlaza.

Customers at QueensPlaza will also be invited to book in as part of a shopping tour with one of Brisbane’s expert stylists to uncover the Brisbane look for autumn/winter 2014.
